Apples and Butterflies

We have been learning about the letters 'Aa' and 'Bb'. We have made apples and beautiful butterflies to make our windows colourful.

Nataleigh's Fairy

Nataleigh found a dandelion 'Fairy' and brought it to show the class. We watched it floating around in the air.

Maths Time

Children in Room 5 are learning to work co-operatively in Maths Time. We are learning to share and take turns. We like number games.

Counting with 10

We are learning to count forwards and backwards from 10. We read a story called "Ten Apples Up on Top, and made some counting strips. Some children can count very fast!

Awards

Darius received the Principal's Award on Friday at the School Assembly and Morris the Room 5 Class Award.

The school Garden

On Friday we went over to the school garden. It is in the old swimming pool area.

There are lots of things growing in the garden.
There are apples.

We saw beans.

We found some strawberries too! Yum!

There was a little bird house on the fence. Some children thought that sparrows might live in it.

We enjoyed our visit to the garden.

More Exploring!

This afternoon we explored more places in our school.

First of all, we checked out the sandpit and the BIG shady tree.

Next we went out onto the field and then to the adventure playground.

After that, we went to the hall.

Our last stop was the Library. There are lots and lots of books in there! We met Jenny, our librarian.

On our way out we met Mrs Cockfield. She teaches in Room 5 sometimes.

We have been to look at lots around our school. Tomorrow we are going to a special place at school.

Exploring our school

Children in Rooms 5 and 6 are learning about our school community. We are learning about places in our school and meeting the people who work here and help us.
Today Room 5 children went 'exploring' in the school office area, the Principal's office, the Staff Room and the Senior classrooms.

We went to the office and met Taryn, our school office manager.

Ann Marie was in the office. She works in our classroom and in the office.

We met Mrs Forsyth in the office. She teaches in Room 7 & 8 in the mornings.
.

Then we went to visit our school principal, Mrs Duston. (She gave us a treat!)

We went to the Staff Room, where the teachers have their morning tea and lunch. We sat on the teachers' chairs!

Mr Anderson, the school caretaker was there. He looks after the school grounds and keeps the school clean.

We went to look in the Senior classrooms. The big children were away swimming at the pool. We sat in their desks! They are much bigger than our tables!

We had fun exploring part of our school today. I wonder what other places in our school we will visit?

First Day of School, February 3, 2015

We have had a busy time in the 'Busy Bee' Room today. Children were very excited to be at school, some returning and some starting school. Our day was a mixture of work and play. Here are some pictures of children finishing their literacy work and enjoying their 'Free choice' time afterwards.

Working hard to finish their apples.

Some children drew pictures.

Some children played with the cars and little blocks.

After our work and play, it was time to eat our lunch.

We had a good time on our first day of school.
