Kindy Visitors

Last Wednesday a group of children from the Westport Kindergarten came to visit Rooms 5 & 6 . Mary Rose and Andrea came too. It was great to see our friends from Kindy!

Maui and the Sun

As part of our 'Sun' focus, we read the story of Maui and the Sun. The children then drew pictures of the Sun, incorporating Koru design. The finished artworks look great!

The Sun

We have learning about the Sun & how it provides light and heat. We have been finding out how it is important to all life on Earth. We have been learning about day and night, and shadows. Here is some of our work. Check it out next time you are at school.

Magnet Magic

On Friday 12 September, Rooms 5, 6, 7 & 8 had a lot of fun exploring magnets and their properties. Activities were set up in each room and children worked in small groups at each one, then moved onto a new activity. They were assisted at each activity by Senior students who helped them in their investigations. Some things that children discovered were; that magnets can attract or repel, that they can work through objects, that they don't pick up some objects, and that they do not pick up all metals. Ask your child what they found out.

A special visitor

This morning, Tania brought her lamb to school to show us.  We all had a chance to pat it and we watched it having a drink of milk from a bottle.  Some of us have read the book "Baby lamb's first drink".  Thank you Tania!

Bark for the playground

There was great excitement when a very big truck full of bark for the Adventure playground arrived at school.

Quiet Readers

Each day, after morning interval, the children come into class and read from their group reading basket. If you thought that five year old children couldn't settle to do this, then be amazed!!! This is what I come in and find when I return from morning tea! You are the Best, Room 5 Busy Bees!!!

Busy Bees at work

The Busy Bees in Room 5 are real hard workers. Look at Zak working on his alphabet match- ups, and Darius & Onyx making the ABC train.

Four little puppies

Room 5 children enjoyed a visit from Seth's little puppies. The puppies were very well-behaved and liked coming to school. Thank you to Seth from Room 6, and his Mum for letting us meet your little puppies. They were sooooo cute!

Scooter Rules

This morning Rooms 5 and 6 went over the rules for scooters at school.  These are the main points:
Scooters are to be walked into the entrance door, down the ramp and then put into stands before emptying bags.
Scooters are to be walked along the area outside Rooms 7, 6 and 5.
They must be parked in the scooter racks when not in use, not discarded on the steps or in the playground.
Scooters are to be ridden following the green lines and stopped in the turn around area.

Following these rules helps keep us all safe.
