Life Education Caravan

The Life Education Caravan has arrived at school! Room 5 children will be visiting Carmen the teacher, and Harold the Giraffe, her helper, to learn about Healthy Eating- 'Eating Different Foods'. We will be having 2 lessons this week. The children are looking forward to their visits.

Milk shakes

We made chocolate milk shakes as a treat for 'Mm' focus! They were yummy! We drank them through a straw and thought that was fun. There were lots of slurping noises! YUM! YUM!

Rabbit visit

Jenny-Lee brought two little rabbits to visit our class. We thought they were so cute and cuddly.

Gianni liked the little rabbit.

Aarion said its fur was soft.

Hunter liked patting the rabbit.

TopTeam Sports Day

The senior classes were involved in a Top Team Sports Day, facilitated by Sport Taxman . Room 5 children went to see what the 'Big'Kids' were doing. They were having a lot of fun while they were keeping fit.

Maths Fun

As part of Room 5's measurement focus, children used play dough to make long, short, little, and big things.

Education Outside the Classroom

We had a great time with Room 6 children visiting the Westport Domain and the Buller Bridge. We learnt about a special place in our town, and explored the bush tracks. We also explored the Buller River area, and walked over the Buller Bridge.

Erin and Manaia found some old Cicada skins.

We saw some very tall trees.

We had lunch in the picnic area at the Domain.

We had lots of fun exploring.

Top Camper Awards

Congratulations to Erin and Bobby for receiving the top camper awards in Room 5 as part of our E.O.T.C. Trip to the Buller Bridge/Domain.

Principals Awards

Congratulations to Erin and Bobby for receiving Principals Awards over the last two weeks.

Maths Time

Children chose to do activities of their own choice after their maths lesson today. 

Some children chose to count and play on the Hundreds Boards.

Some children played the Shopping 'Match up' game.

Some children chose to count, sort and match objects.

Monarch Butterfly Excitement!

There was great excitement in the classroom when our first Monarch Butterfly emerged from its chrysalis. We have 3 more to come out and 2 hungry caterpillars left. It is a lot of fun to observe the changes.

Scooter Time

Children enjoy riding their scooters at morning interval and lunchtime.

Welcome to School

Bobby received his Welcome to School certificate at assembly from Mrs Duston.

Cricket!

Room 5 and 6 walked down to Craddock Park to see some of the cricket.  Buller was defending the 

Hawke Cup against North Otago.  We were able to sit on the seats and watch for a while. Luckily we had lots of sunscreen on, and our hats because it was very hot!  Go Buller!

Big Bubbles

Today we used a big bubble blower to make very big bubbles. We had lots of fun jumping to touch them. We liked the rainbow colours in the bubbles.

Bobby also had a turn at blowing little bubbles.

Fitness Time

The children in Room 5 like keeping fit. We have a fitness time every day.
